Budget mobile under 15000 INR is the new buzz!
The range of best mobile under 15000 INR is perhaps the key segment of the Indian smartphone industry and every successful smartphone brand is keen to establish a device in this potential range.
The companies are sacrificing on their profit margins just to provide the superior features than their competitors at a better price. They are curiously looking for means to cut down on unnecessary costs.
Not long back, Google took a gigantic step in this range and changed its course forever. It bought Motorola and launched Moto G for a minimum price of Rs. 12,499 for the 8GB version and Rs. 13,999 for the 16GB version with a decent processor, powerful camera and ensured timely updates from Google.
Flipkart was chosen as the selling platform. The phone created a massive hype! It was selling like hot cakes, and the company was soon in short of units to sell!
Moto G Turbo Edition is the new friend from the house of Motorola in the same competitive range, phone under 15000 INR. It has received a great response from the audience.
Let’s have a look at what makes this smartphone under 15000 deserve the tagline of “Turbo”.
Inside The Box Moto G Turbo Edition
Moto G Turbo Edition got a significant difference in the accessories compared to other best phones under 15000.
Yes, you get the smartphone (of course) with a turbocharger for fast charging which is not available for Moto G 3rd Gen and Moto X Play smartphones.
If we take the popular smartphones below 15000 like Lenovo K4 and Xiaomi 4imi, both doesn’t come with the turbocharger as well.
You will also get the earphones and a manual which comes in multiple languages – English and several Indian.
Why Is It Considered The Best SmartPhone Under 15000 Rs?
Let’s proceed to review this best mobile under 15000 INR by analyzing its features!
Moto G Turbo boasts of a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-Core Processor. It is bundled with 2 GB RAM. This is indeed awesome for a smartphone at this price range.
You won’t find lagging issues on standard usage. Even if you have a RAM eater App like Facebook Messenger in your device, it won’t create a RAM shortage.
Talking about the game performance, I am impressed with Moto G Turbo! I didn’t experience any lagging or frame drops even in high-end games such as Asphalt 8 Airborne. MARVELLOUS!
The gameplay is incredibly smooth on Moto G Turbo. Sure, the device warmed a bit, but that’s entirely normal for any device to generate a meager amount of heat on playing hard games.
The screen is quite dull as compared to other best mobile phones under 15000 INR. One may not find the video quality as appealing as its competitors, but it does come with a video stabilization feature.
However, with the Octa- core Snapdragon processor, 2 GB RAM, the model offers a faster multitasking facility for medium- ranged phone. Even a heavy user shouldn’t be experiencing any issues.

Display and Look
Believe it or not – Your opinion about any smartphone is highly based on its looks. The device is of the usual candy bar shape and 5 inches screen size.
The back of the device is textured and made of plastic, which gives it luster and a comfortable feeling. However, most brands have started giving metal covers now, which look more professional.
The width of the smartphone is 11.66 mm, which is pretty high. The world’s slimmest smartphone, ViVO X5 Max has the width of 4.85 mm.
However, I don’t think this is an issue, and you will still experience a premium feeling with this best phone under 15000.
As expected from Motorola, this phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and a full HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
Operating System and Interface
Moto G Turbo comes with Android Lollipop v5.1.1. The marshmallow upgrade is out for this device, and you can update it anytime.
You will be getting the default stock Android UI – which is pretty neat. Bloatware is very less too – which is a major advantage since you will be getting more free space and lower RAM consumption.
Yeah, the Moto G Turbo Edition has 2GB RAM, 403 MB of RAM is used by System, 219 MB of RAM used by preinstalled apps. So, around 1.3 GB of RAM is available when no additional apps installed on this best phone below 15000.
An interesting thing I noted in Moto G Turbo Edition is that I get the number row above the keyboard when I’ve set the default language to “English (India)”.
Also, you may see in the below screenshot; an attractive option “Hinglish” is available in the space bar with which you could type both Hindi and English words using one single keyboard.
However, “English (United Kingdom)” keyboard appears normal without such special options.
I am satisfied with the user interface and OS features of Moto G Turbo Edition and hence it is nudge me to conclude that it is one of the best mobiles 15000 price range.
Charging Time and Battery Life
The suffix Turbo in the name is because of the powerful turbocharger is to the rescue.
In Lollipop, I could charge from 0 to 100% in just 1 hour 15 minutes using the turbocharger provided. While for Marshmallow, it took around 1 hour 30 minutes. That’s no substantial degradation either!
Talking about the battery life, I tested out this smartphone for 22 hours on Marshmallow. Here’s the summary of what I did:
- Connected to 3G/Wi-Fi every single moment
- Watched HD 720p videos for around 1 and a half hour.
- Had an audio conversation with a friend on Skype for an hour.
- Did a normal voice call for 30 minutes.
- Browsed the web for around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- And finally experimented a bit with camera, gaming and other usual apps for half an hour.
Note that I kept the brightness to an absolute minimum. Brightness matters a lot for battery life.
As you can see, the phone’s battery was capable enough to handle all I have mentioned above. I can conclude that the battery will last more than a day for an average user and thus I would say that it is the best smartphone under 15000 with super fast charging feature.
Moto G Turbo boasts of a 13 MP Rear and 5 MP Front camera. It includes an enhanced software for faster image capture and video stabilization. Here is the result of my camera testing:
Indoor testing: Overall, the picture quality is great, but it degrades while using flash. Here’s the outcome of with and without flash photography:
With Flash Without Flash
Outdoor testing: The image quality gets bettered in outdoor testing. Here is the outcome:
With Flash Without Flash
If I compare the camera features of Moto G Turbo Edition and Google Nexus 5X, Moto device is mediocre because the video resolution of Nexus 5X(4K) is slightly better and I could record the videos well with it.
Besides, this Nexus phone has constant auto-focus while recording the movies and lets me shoot 360° Panorama in every direction. I badly miss these features in Moto G Turbo Edition.
Even though the camera of this best mobile phone under 15000 is slightly better than Nexus 5x in terms of Megapixels, (13 MP vs. 12.3 MP), I personally observed the camera quality is slightly better in Nexus 5X.
Nexus 5x’s flash images seem to be way better as well. Yes, the performance of the Moto G Turbo Edition is low while shooting in places having low lighting.
I have compared its camera MP with its rivals and it is quite good.
Moto G Turbo comes with 16 GB ROM, which should be pretty enough for most users. In case you want more, you can insert a microSD card up to 32 GB.
RAM comparison with its opponents!
Note that you will be getting only 9.08 GB out of the available 16 GB, since the rest would be occupied by the system.
The gesture is the trend amongst the recent smartphones. I am fond of this addition, and look forward to them every time I review the smartphones under 15000.
Gestures make it extremely convenient to access frequent apps. I found 2 gestures on Moto G Turbo, which can be performed even when the phone is locked:
1. Double chop turns on/off the flashlight. It works even when the device is locked. Double chopping again would turn it off.
However, if the flashlight was turned on when the phone was locked initially, it would lock itself again on the second double chop.
2. Turning your wrist quickly twice turns on the camera. This gesture is present even in low range smartphones of Motorola such as the Moto E 2nd Generation.
Double twist to open the rear camera, does that again to open the front one. Note that although this gesture works when the device is locked, repeating this gesture won’t lock the smartphone.
Moto G 3rd Edition has the same gestures as Moto E 2nd generation. Moto X 2nd Generation has the same camera gesture. Apart from that, flicking the phone twice enables the flashlight (the reverse of which can be done either).
Lastly, you can silence a ringtone by waving your hand. Talking about Moto X Play, it has the same gestures as Moto X 2nd generation
Unbeaten Data Transfer with Moto Migrate
Moto Migrate is a smart app which transfers all your data from your old phone to new Motorola phone.
However, you should use this migration app before upgrading the software of the Moto G Turbo Edition that comes with the Android version, Lollipop.
Yes, Marshmallow no longer supports Moto Migrate App since it boosts the user data backup which is the replica of Motorola Migrate app.
This is a huge step for Motorola to give off some of their unique features and to compromise to use the similar ones that have been made available with the new Android version.
However, you may opt the alternatives such as ShareIt and Copy My Data that serve the same purpose as Moto Migrate for transferring the data from your old phone to this best phone under 15000.
SAR Value of Moto G Turbo Edition
Being health conscious is crucial!
I have been taking the value of SAR into consideration these days while reviewing smartphones because, the higher the SAR values, the more radiation would absorb into our head which is not for good health.
This best mobile under 15000 maintains a decent SAR value of 0.90 W/Kg and is under permissible values in India, which is 1.6 W/Kg.
Department of Telecom says that the Indian standard for SAR value is 1.6 W/Kg over 1 gram of human tissue. Here are SAR values of other best mobiles under 15000.
- Moto G 3rd generation – 0.905 W/Kg (Head) and 1.069 W/Kg (Body)
- Lenovo K4 Note – 0.844 W/Kg (Head) and 0.711 W/Kg (Body)
- Samsung Galaxy J5 – 0.4 W/Kg (Head) and 0.285 W/Kg (Body)
It is clear that the rivals of this best phone under 15000 have a better SAR value and safe to use.
