So now, what if anyone asks you about the flagship HTC phone? The name of HTC One M9 might be coming into your mind but, there is another device which is even better than HTC One M9.
HTC has come up with a larger and better version of HTC One M9 which would be available in limited countries only. In this post, I’m gonna talk about the HTC One M9+ in detail and will compare the device with some popular phones.
How good is HTC One M9+?
The very first and obvious question is how HTC One M9+ is different from HTC One M9. The very first visual difference is in the screen size. HTC One M9 features a 5” display while HTC One M9+ boasts of a bigger 5.2” screen. Not only size, even the resolution is better.
HTC One M9 has a pixel density of only 441ppi and a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels but, HTC One M9+ features a pixel resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 564 ppi. This is the reason why HTC One M9+ has a better, clearer display and offers an excellent colour saturation as compared with HTC One M9.
HTC One M9+ boasts an excellent display but, falls behind when compared with Samsung Galaxy S6 which still has the best display in the market. In terms of performance, HTC One M9 is powered by a 2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor while HTC One M9+ is powered by a 2.2 GHz MediaTek processor.
There is a Power VRG graphics in M9+ as compared with M9 which has an Adreno 430 GPU. The phone is powerful but, if compared with Nexus 6, it falls way behind. There is a 3GB of RAM in both HTC phones just like all other flagship phones like Galaxy S6 and Nexus 6.
Camera Performance
There is no major difference between M9 and M9+ in camera design. HTC M9 features a square 21MP camera and HTC M9+ has a circular camera with a depth sensor just like M8 to add more colour and light into the images.
The camera is same in terms of pixels and sensors.
M9+ delivers the decent quality of images but, if compared with iPhone 6, images are not so clear. iPhone 6 despite having a 8 MP camera delivers stunning images thanks to f/2.2 aperture. However, Samsung S6 is the clear winner in terms of camera performance. The thing to notice here is that the HTC One M9+ lacks Optical Image Stabilization which is an important aspect for getting clear images.
Design
HTC is famous for its design. The reason behind it is that HTC always uses a metallic design and just like the rest of HTC’s other flagship devices, M9+ features a full metal body which makes it shiny and premium in looks. However, Samsung S6 is much better in design because of the addition of glass in metal chassis. S6 is also thin at only 6.8 mm as compared with HTC One M9+ at 9.6 mm.
Battery
The main concern with the modern day smartphone is the battery. Despite having so many new technologies and advancements, the battery is still an issue in a smartphone. HTC One M9+ features a sealed 2840 mAh battery just like M9.
However, the battery seems strong only on paper. As you can see, the battery is better than M9 in few case but, it is much better than Samsung S6 and iPhone 6.
What is so special about M9+?
Now, the question is, what makes M9+ better than M9. The answer is the fingerprint scanner. Yes, HTC One M9+ features a fingerprint scanner placed at the place of the home button. It works just like Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6.
The only drawback is that the scanner doesn’t work as a home button.
Pricing and Final Verdict
As you can see, HTC One M9+ is the costliest phone among these four devices and is priced at a whopping INR 51,990 for a 32GB variant.
The phone seems a bit over priced at even the big players like Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 comes under 50k. There are many reasons for the high price of M9+. The very first reason is the depth camera which can help you in extracting most from an image.
Excellent audio quality, metal finish, long battery are few improved features to look out for in M9. No doubt, HTC One M9+ is a marvellous phone but, paying almost 50k doesn’t make a sense. Go for it only if you are an HTC fan.
